CHENNAI: The Merchants and Bankers Golf Tournament is ready to tee off.

Chennai: The 19th edition of the prestigious Merchants and Bankers Golf Tournament is scheduled to take place on Friday, January 30, at the Cosmo TNGF Golf Course. Played in the Stafford format, this tournament tests both skill and mental fortitude, further enhancing the appeal of the sport. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Madras (RCM), which itself is just a few years away from completing its centenary in the city, this invitational tournament has attracted entries from over 25 top corporate companies, along with business leaders, industrialists, and other individuals invested in the development of society in various ways, according to Shreya Chari, Golf Chair of RCM.
Presented by MIOT, one of the city’s leading multi-specialty hospitals, this major event has attracted several other sponsors, including the Murugappa Group and MRF. BGR, Globelink, Taj Sky View, Apexon, Peruvemba, Polyhose, Anand Rathi, Chola, Omega Healthcare, UMM, and House of Bars are among others. Chari further added, “The Cosmo TNGF course presents a variety of challenges for everyone, and we are going to witness a high level of competitive golf at the amateur level.” RCM, which is the third oldest Rotary Club in India after Kolkata and Mumbai, will host a sponsors’ dinner at the Pullman Hotel on January 29, while the prize distribution and lunch will be held at TNGF after the tournament. The surplus generated from this annual flagship tournament will go directly towards RCM’s objective of creating an equitable society for all, raising awareness about the challenges posed by the (ever-changing) environment, cancer prevention, and poverty alleviation.
