CHENNAI: Students of government special schools were given metro rides

Chennai: Ahead of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) took students from government special schools on a ride on Tuesday. A total of 167 special children from various government special schools across Tamil Nadu, along with their teachers and staff, were part of the free trip.
A special metro train was arranged from the Airport Metro to the AG-DMS station. Students from special schools in Poonamallee, Kanchipuram, Thanjavur, and Chengalpattu participated. “This collaboration was done to familiarize special children (visually, hearing impaired, and physically challenged) with the metro system, promote independent mobility, and public transport experience,” a CMRL press note said.
