Chennai: Mother-son duo kills snake sellers in Tiruvallur

Chennai: Suspecting a man of having an extramarital affair with his wife, a 39-year-old man and his 19-year-old son attacked and killed the victim near Magaral village in Tiruvallur on Tuesday night. The deceased was S. Chinnappan (42), a resident of Virudhachalam in Cuddalore, who lived with his son in Magaral. Police said they prepared snacks and namkeens at their home and sold them to nearby shops. Chinnappan had also befriended a married woman from a nearby village. The woman’s husband had warned Chinnappan to stay away from the family.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, the deceased went to meet the woman under the pretext of buying snacks. Upon learning of his arrival, the woman’s husband, G. Subhash (39), and his son, S. Sakthivel (19), went to Chinnappan’s house late at night and brutally attacked him with wooden sticks and other weapons before fleeing the scene. A few hours later, Chinnappan’s brother found him unconscious and covered in blood and took him to the hospital, where he was declared dead. On Wednesday, Vengal police arrested Subhash and Sakthivel on murder charges. Both were produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
