CHENNAI: Mobile passport seva van at your doorstep to reduce waiting time

Chennai: To help people living in rural and remote areas who have to wait for long hours to get their passports, the Regional Passport Office, Chennai has launched a Mobile Passport Seva Van here. The van will be initially stationed at Tambaram, followed by adjoining districts where getting a passport appointment takes a lot of time, officials said. The van service aims to provide passport services at the doorstep of applicants living in rural and remote areas, to ensure last-mile delivery of citizen-centric services, a statement said.
This is in addition to the existing Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs). KJ Srinivas, Joint Secretary and Chief Passport Officer, Passport Seva Project, Ministry of External Affairs inaugurated the Mobile Passport Seva Van at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on June 16. S Vijayakumar, IFS, Regional Passport Officer, Chennai and senior officials from TCS were also present during the launch.
