Chennai: Four people, including a BBA graduate, arrested for attempting to rob Rs 9 lakh

Chennai: North Beach police on Tuesday arrested four people, including a BBA graduate, for attacking a mobile phone shop employee near Beach Road last week and attempting to rob him of ₹9 lakh. The victim, Arshad Hussain (30), a resident of Tiruvadanai in Ramanathapuram district, worked at a mobile phone shop in Burma Bazaar. On September 9, he was returning on a two-wheeler with his friend Abdul Razzaq after collecting money from the sale of new phones.
Four men on two bikes stopped them, rammed their vehicle, and, threatening them with knives, attempted to snatch the bag containing cash. Hussain and Razzaq raised an alarm, attracting the attention of bystanders, forcing the gang to flee. Based on Hussain’s complaint, North Beach police have registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area helped identify the suspects. The arrested were identified as Lokesh (22), a resident of Jafferkhanpet, Saravanan (350), a resident of Tiruttani, Justin (24), a resident of West Mambalam, and Augustine (21), a BBA graduate from Saidapet.
