Chennai areas; Water supply will be disrupted in Chennai areas for 24 hours

Chennai News: The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has announced a 24-hour water supply disruption from 9 am on June 30 to 9 am on July 1 following maintenance work at the Nemmeli desalination plant. There will be a temporary interruption in piped water supply for residents living in Adyar, Perungudi and Sholinganallur areas of Chennai. Residents are advised to prepare in advance in this regard. The maintenance involves necessary repairs to pipelines within the desalination plant premises. In view of this, residents are encouraged to make necessary arrangements such as storing sufficient water in advance. Additionally, an option to book water tankers online is available for those who require emergency water supply during this period, as reported by The Hindu.

The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board press release said, “We regret any inconvenience caused and urge residents to plan accordingly.” The temporary disruption is aimed at ensuring the continued efficiency and reliability of water supply services in these areas. Meanwhile, the Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rains in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal till July 3. The monsoon is getting more active in the Arabian Sea, and the next two days are forecast to be crucial. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday announced that the monsoon has arrived in Delhi-NCR, bringing an end to the prolonged scorching heat. This premature arrival of the monsoon has brought cheer to residents, who were eagerly waiting for the onset of the rainy season to get relief from the scorching heat.
