Chennai Airport is returning to normal operations: Official information

Tamil Nadu: Deputy Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department, Ambuj Sharma, has stated that Chennai Airport is returning to normal.

Deputy Secretary Ambuj Sharma of the Civil Aviation Department inspected Chennai Airport regarding the impact on Indigo Airlines’ flight services.

Later, he told reporters:

For the past nine days, the airport has been investigating the impact of Indigo Airlines’ flight cancellations. As part of this, flight services and baggage recovery at Chennai Airport were examined. It was found that the maximum impact occurred only on the 5th of the month.

Chennai Airport is now returning to normal. Officials are working day and night to ensure everything is back to normal. Passengers are satisfied with the airport’s operations.

Feedback has been sought from other airlines regarding operating extra flights. Further steps will be taken based on their responses. The central government is taking all necessary steps in this regard.

A notice has been issued to Indigo. Indigo has not yet submitted its final report. The airline has been asked to reduce its flight schedule by 10 percent.

1,060 pieces of baggage stranded at Chennai Airport have been handed over to the correct passengers. Only 44 passengers are yet to receive their baggage. Work is underway to resolve this. The details of 18 more passengers’ baggage are incomplete. Due to this, that baggage has not been handed over to the correct owners. These will be properly investigated and handed over to the rightful owners.

Feedback has also been received from passengers at Chennai Airport. According to this feedback, some areas of the airport need improvement, he said.
