Chennai +3 districts extend bill payment deadline: Electricity board gives relief
Tamil Nadu: The Electricity Board has issued a notification giving time to pay electricity bills in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts. Due to Fenchal storm and heavy rains, time till December 10 has been given to deposit electricity bills in the above 4 districts. Electricity bills can be paid without penalty till the 10th.
It has been raining intermittently in the northern districts including Chennai since last night. Today it is raining with strong winds. On the 25th, a deep depression formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal, which strengthened and turned into a storm, named Fenchal, which is expected to hit between Mamallapuram and Karaikal today. The Meteorological Department had warned that winds could blow at a speed of 70 to 80 km per hour at the time of landfall and sometimes up to 90 km per hour. Also, heavy rain warnings have been issued in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore and other districts.
As a result, the Tamil Nadu government was actively making progress in this regard. Chief Minister Stalin inspected the rescue operations from the Tamil Nadu Control Center. He also sought advice on how to deal with it. Also, as a precaution, schools and colleges have been closed. Somewhere the roads were flooded and somewhere there was a power outage. Time has been given for payment. Minister Senthil Balaji has said that electricity bills can be paid without any penalty till the 10th.
