Odisha: With rainfall activity increasing in many parts of the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday informed that a new low pressure area is likely to form around September 5, 2024. As per the latest forecast, a new low pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around September 5. The IMD informed that from June 1 to September 1, 2024, Odisha has so far received 837.6 mm of rainfall against the normal value of 931.9 mm. During this period, 1 district received excess rainfall, while overall rainfall was normal in 20 districts of the state. Nine districts received deficient rainfall. Rainfall activity will gradually decrease in Odisha in the next few days. However, light to moderate rains and thundershowers may occur in some districts. Also, heavy rains are expected in some parts of the state from September 5.
