Cheating in the name of getting a contract job, fraudster arrested

Bareilly. A peon embezzled Rs 1.5 lakh from an unemployed youth from Bhuta on the pretext of employing him on a contract job in the roadways. Threatened to kill if protested. The entire matter has been complained to the SSP.

Devendra Pal Singh, resident of Lahiya village of Bhuta, told in the complaint letter given in the SSP office that he had come to Bareilly on 26 December 2020 in search of employment.

He also met his distant relative, who is working as a peon at the satellite bus stand. He promised to get the job of a conductor on contract in the Roadways Department. He said that our sir will have to pay Rs 1.5 lakh in exchange for the job.

Devendra, who was deceived, sold his father’s land and gave the money to the peon. When he did not get the job, after applying pressure through his relatives, the accused pacified him for the time being by giving him a cheque, but after a few days he came and took the check saying that he would return the money on January 25.

On not getting the money, on January 26, when Devendra went to the accused to ask for the money, he harassed him by calling himself a party leader and chased him away by threatening to kill him if he asked for the money. When the police station did not take action, Devendra lodged a complaint in the SSP office on Tuesday demanding action.
