The accused was produced in the court from where he was sent to jail. Accused Praveen Singh Gaur (36), Village Thelka Board Police Station and District Kanker and Omprakash Dewangan (36), Kohka, working on the post of Assistant Programmer, Forest Department, Kanker, had told people about the benefits of a scheme launched by the Forest Department and investing money in it. . Falling prey to their trap, the victim Priyanka Rajput had given Rs 11 lakh to the accused. These accused had also collected lakhs of rupees from some other people.

A complaint had previously been lodged by the victim against both the accused. The police had registered an offense against both the accused under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 120B, 34. As soon as the complaint was registered, the police team was busy searching for the accused on the instructions of top police officials. Accused Praveen Singh Gaur had got anticipatory bail from Bilaspur High Court and the second accused in this case, Om Prakash Dewangan, was on the move and was hiding here and there to escape from the police. Kotwali police was searching for addresses of the accused by going to Bhilai, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Kanker. After forming a special team, the team laid siege on February 20 and arrested the accused Omprakash Dewangan from Patan. After this he was presented in the court.
