Charges framed against gangster Abu Jat in murder case of terrorist Abdul Rehman

Faridabad: A major legal development has come to light in the much talked about murder case that took place in the high security ward of District Neemka Jail in Faridabad, Haryana. The court has framed charges of murder and threatening a fellow prisoner against accused gangster Arun Chaudhary alias Abu Jat in the murder of suspected terrorist Abdul Rehman. Framing these charges, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Surendra Kumar of Faridabad has issued an order to start a regular trial in the case. Gangster Arun Chaudhary, currently lodged in Karnal jail due to security reasons, was produced before the court through video conferencing. During the process of framing of charges, Abu Jatt maintained his complete innocence and demanded a trial from the court. Murder was done with pot and stone in high security ward This sensational incident took place on the night of 8 February in the high security ward of Neemka district jail, which is considered the safest. According to the investigation report of the police and jail administration, notorious gangster Arun Chaudhary alias Abu Jat, originally a resident of RSPura in Jammu and Kashmir, and suspected terrorist Abdul Rehman were lodged in the same ward. There was a dispute between the two regarding some issue on the night of the incident. After this, Abu Jat, in a very vicious manner, tied a heavy stone in his pot and attacked Abdul Rehman who was sleeping or standing unaware. Abdul Rehman died on the spot due to serious injuries on his head and other body parts. After this incident, there was a stir in the jail administration and the local police registered a case under murder and other related sections and started investigation. Deceased Abdul Rehman was accused of conspiracy to attack Ram temple Abdul Rahman, the victim of this massacre, was not an ordinary prisoner, rather he was on the radar of the country’s security agencies. Abdul Rehman, originally a resident of Milkipur in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh, was involved in anti-national activities. In March 2025, Gujarat ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad) and Haryana STF (Special Task Force) arrested him from Pali area of Faridabad in a joint major operation. The investigating agencies claimed that Abdul Rehman was planning a major suicide or terrorist attack on the newly constructed grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. At the time of his arrest, two live hand grenades were also recovered from his possession. A case was registered against him under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and other serious sections for endangering the security of the country, after which he was kept in the high security ward of Neemka jail. The attacker is Abu Jat, a notorious gangster of Jammu and Kashmir. Arun Chaudhary alias Abu Jat, the accused who murdered Abdul Rehman, is also a very dangerous and notorious criminal. Many cases are registered against him in Jammu and Kashmir under extortion, attempt to murder and Gangster Act. In view of his increasing criminal activities and security risks in the jails of Jammu and Kashmir, some time back he was transferred from there and sent to Neemka jail of Faridabad. According to jail sources, there were many reports of heated arguments and disputes within the jail between these two dangerous prisoners due to ideological or personal reasons, which ultimately resulted in this bloody outcome. Security system checks and regular trials begin After the murder of a high-profile prisoner inside the jail, the Haryana government and the jail headquarters had ordered a thorough judicial inquiry into the matter. Along with this, a departmental inquiry was also conducted into where the stone came from in the ward with tight security cover and how the security lapse occurred. Now after the charges are formally framed by the court, the regular trial of this entire case is going to start. In the upcoming hearings, the prosecution will try to convict Abu Jatt on the basis of eyewitnesses, CCTV footage and forensic evidence from the jail. On the other hand, the defense lawyers have rejected all these allegations and said that they will present their arguments in the court. Now the eyes of the entire state are fixed on this matter.
