Chandigarh: Two student leaders of PU took out a thanksgiving march
Chandigarh: Jaswinder Rana of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), who won the joint secretary post of Panjab University Campus Students Council on Thursday, and Prince Choudhary, presidential candidate of Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS), who lost to independent candidate Anurag Dalal, took out a foot march in the university campus today.
Rana started his foot march from the Arts Block and passed through the Law Department, UILS, Science Departments, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Bio-Medical Sciences and ended his march at Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital.
Of the seven candidates in the fray for the joint secretary post, Rana got a big advantage from UILS (530 votes) and Law Department (342 votes). Rana also got 101 votes from the Dental Department, the highest compared to other candidates.
Choudhary, who walked barefoot to ‘thank’ the students of the university, started his march from the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS). The march passed through the Law Department and Arts Block and ended at the Students Centre. Choudhary got the highest number of votes at 556 from UILS, which has a student strength of 1,950. Anurag got 426 votes from the department.
