Chandigarh: Two sentenced to five years in jail for attempted murder

Chandigarh: A local court has convicted two persons Ajay and Sohaib Ansari and sentenced them to five years of rigorous imprisonment in an attempt to murder case registered four years ago. The police had registered a case against the accused on May 17, 2020 on the complaint of a person named Wasim Ahmed. He told that on the day of the incident, Sohaib and another person stopped him in Sector 29-B of Chandigarh and started beating him over some girl.

He raised an alarm and seeing the people, they ran away. After this, he called his brother Asif and left the house. When they reached near his house, Sohaib and Ajay reached there and attacked Asif. Ajay stabbed Asif on the neck and stomach. During the investigation, the accused were arrested and the weapon used in the crime was recovered. After the completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed in the court against the accused. According to the medical report, Asif had received five injuries, which are said to be life-threatening. After hearing the arguments, the court pronounced the sentence and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each convict.
