Chandigarh: St. John’s won the football competition

Chandigarh: St. John’s High School, Sector 26 defeated hosts St. Soldier International School, Sector 28 by one goal to win the 12th St. Soldier Football Tournament. The only goal of the match was scored by Rishit in the 28th minute. The hosts tried their best to score an equaliser. However, the Sector 26 defenders managed to hold on to their one-goal lead till the final whistle.

Sagalpreet won the title of the best defender, while Rudransh of St. John’s School was declared the best goalkeeper. Gurjot Singh of the hosts was declared the best scorer and Abhimanyu the best player of the tournament. Colonel Paramjit Singh, Commanding Officer 2, Chandigarh Battalion, NCC, along with Ravinder Pal Singh Hair, Vijaya Sidhu and Principal Anisha Ghuman, awarded the winners and runners-up. A total of 16 schools participated in the championship.
