Chandigarh: North Zone Badminton Championship from September 4

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Badminton Association (CBA) will organise the Yonex Sunrise North Zone Interstate Badminton Championships at the Centre of Excellence for Badminton at Sector 38 Sports Complex from September 4 to 8. Over 200 shuttlers from the northern region will participate in the senior and junior (under-19) events. Chief national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand will award the winners on September 8. The championship will be played in team and singles events.

Principal Secretary to Haryana Government and Tournament Director Vijayendra Kumar and Secretary to Punjab Government and CBA President Priyank Bharti said that each participant will be handed over a memento. Tournament Organising Committee Chairman Col Raj Parmar and CBA Secretary General Surinder Mahajan confirmed that the technical officials will be appointed by the BAI. “The winners of the senior team championship will represent their state in the inter-state and national championships to be held in Bengaluru in December and the winners of the junior team events will play in the junior national championships,” Parmar said.
