Chandigarh News: Haryana’s bus stands will be green and clean
Chandigarh: State Transport Minister Aseem Goyal today said that all the bus depots in the state will be beautified and attention will be paid to ensuring greenery and cleanliness like railway stations. Special type of bus depots will be built in Gurugram and Pipli (Kurukshetra) under PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode. Apart from this, bus queue shelters will be built as per the requirement across the state. Goyal gave this information after a review meeting of the Transport Department in Chandigarh today. Principal Secretary Navdeep Singh Virk, Director Sujan Singh and other senior officers were present during the meeting. Goyal directed the departmental officials to ensure proper maintenance of all bus stand complexes in state transport depots and sub-depots. He emphasized on developing vacant spaces and planting trees to beautify the bus depots. He also directed that cleanliness of public toilets should be ensured at all bus depots and repairs or new construction should be done where necessary. The minister said that priority should be given to the applications received on the ‘Jan Samvad’ portal for the construction of bus queue shelters. It was told in the meeting that 127 applications have been received and the process of construction of these shelters has started. Goyal said that an expenditure of Rs 145.23 lakh has been approved for the underground parking to be built in front of Ambala city bus stand. This will provide parking facility to the people coming to the bus stand, Mahavir Park and Kapad Market for their vehicles. Officers have been instructed to expedite its construction.
