Chandigarh: MC moves forward to take action against encroachers

Chandigarh: The city municipal corporation today carried out a massive enforcement drive in sectors 45, 46, 48, 36, 37, 15 and 19. The drive was carried out under the direction of municipal commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh and under the supervision of joint commissioner Isha Kamboj and enforcement inspectors. A large number of illegal items on public land, including auto-rickshaws and stalls, were seized.

A total of 47 challans were issued against the violators. Meanwhile, the municipal corporation took action on the issue of illegal parking and removed autos and commercial vehicles parked on the footpath in sector 46. Gurpreet Singh Gabi, who raised the issue in the municipal corporation’s general house, said these auto drivers had illegally occupied all the footpaths and even bathed and defecated there. He alleged that illegal activities were also carried out in these autos.
