Chandigarh: Gully cricket meet will start again from today

Chandigarh: The gully cricket tournament, which was halted due to the ‘war-like’ situation between India and Pakistan, will resume tomorrow. Two quarter-finals, followed by semi-finals and final matches will be played. Exhibition matches between British Deputy High Commission XI and Competent XI and PGI Doctors XI and IMA Doctors XI will be held on May 17. The date and venue of the prize distribution ceremony is yet to be decided.

Organised by the UT Cricket Association in collaboration with the Chandigarh Police and supported by the Department of Education and Sports and the Municipal Corporation, the tournament has seen an unprecedented participation of 576 teams. Earlier, Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini was scheduled to be the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony on May 11, but the event was postponed in view of national security concerns.
