Chandigarh: Front promises better educational ecosystem

Chandigarh: Teachers Voice United Front (TVUF) released its vision statement ahead of the Punjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) elections scheduled for September 3. The group promised to improve the academic ecosystem of the university and make teaching easier for faculty members. The TVUF panel for the PUTA elections included Ashok Kumar (Hindi) for the post of president, Suruchi Aditya (Dental College) for vice-president, Kulwinder Singh (UBS) for secretary, Vinod Kumar (Sociology) for joint secretary and Pankaj Srivastava (Philosophy) for treasurer. Those contesting for executive member from the front include Sudhir Mehra (English and Cultural Studies), Rakesh Mohindra (Library UBS) in Group I, Minto Rattan (UIET), Ikrit Singh (Dental College), Jagjit Singh (UIET) in Group III and Harmel Singh (USOL/CDOE) in Group V. Ashok Kumar said, “If elected, we will fight for the release of dues including interest, resolving the issue of retirement age of teachers by making it 65 years, stopping academic audit by resident audit officer, restoring the general body meeting system as per PUTA constitution and hassle-free disbursement of retirement benefits.”
