Chandigarh: Akshay finished third in golf

Chandigarh: Chandigarh’s Akshay Sharma finished third while Dubai’s Rehan Thomas announced his arrival in Indian professional golf with a solid final round of 4-under 68 to win the Rs 1 crore KGISL Presents Coimbatore Open 2024 at the Coimbatore Golf Club.

Sharma (69-65-71-71), who was leading by one shot after the third round, carded 71 on Saturday to finish third at 12-under 276. Meanwhile, 24-year-old Thomas (70-67-69-68), who was tied second before the final round, shot a total of 14-under 274 for the week to win by one shot and create history by becoming only the second player to win on his debut appearance on the PGTI.
