CG: Annu Chandrakar, the absconding accused in the land dispute murder case, arrested

Mungeli: Police have achieved a major breakthrough in the murder case that occurred on January 9, 2026, over a land dispute in Bandha village, under the jurisdiction of Lalpur police station in Mungeli district. Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police, Mungeli, Bhojram Patel (IPS), the absconding accused, Annu Kumar Chandrakar, was arrested in Bilaspur and sent to jail on judicial remand. On the day of the incident, Ramkumar Kashyap (62), a resident of Bandha village, was murdered in the presence of his son, Sukhdev Kashyap, over a land dispute. The accused included Ayodhya Prasad Kurmi, Annu Kumar Kurmi, Ramphal Kashyap, Kunjbihari Kashyap, Santosh Kashyap, Nandkumar Kashyap, Dhanraj Kashyap, Raju Kashyap, Doman Nishad, Radheshyam Kashyap, Suresh Kashyap, and a juvenile. During the incident, the accused severely injured Ramkumar Kashyap by hitting him with sticks, rods, and a tabbal. They then ran a tractor trolley over the deceased and dragged him towards the colony. Laxminarayan Kashyap was also fatally attacked in the incident. Following this serious incident, all the accused fled. Police immediately established a case and conducted panchnama proceedings and registered a case against the accused at Lalpur Police Station under Crime No. 03/26, Sections 103(1), 109(1), 191(1), 191(2), and 191(3) of the IPC. On January 11, Ramphal Kashyap, Dhanraj Kashyap, Raju Kashyap, Doman Nishad, Nandkumar Kashyap, and Suresh Chandrakar were duly arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand. The juvenile accused was sent to a juvenile home based on his social background as per court orders. Considering the seriousness of the case, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Patel directed the arrest of the absconding accused.

Following this, under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Navneet Kaur Chhabra, the Cyber ​​Cell and Lalpur Police, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh, conducted a continuous investigation. On February 22, 2026, based on technical and informant information, the absconding accused, Annu Kumar Chandrakar, was found hiding in Ektanagar, Bilaspur. The police team detained him and interrogated him. The accused confessed to the entire conspiracy and the murder using a tractor. The tractor was seized from the spot. Annu Kumar Chandrakar (23 years), son of Ayodhya, resident of village Bandha, Lalpur police station, Mungeli district, was duly arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand. Inspector Prasad Sinha, Sub-Inspector Sundarlal Gorle, Lalpur police station in-charge, and Cyber ​​Cell staff played a key role in this operation. In this case, police vigilance and relentless pursuit of the absconding suspects resulted in the arrest of the murder suspect and his subsequent prosecution. The police clarified that they will continue to prosecute such crimes and ensure that all perpetrators are punished severely, in accordance with the law.
