Central government bans JKLF and JK People’s Freedom League
New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry on Saturday declared Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (Yasin Malik faction) an ‘unlawful association’ and banned the group for 5 years. The Modi government has also designated the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League as a banned group for ‘promoting separatism’. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Twitter, “Modi government has declared ‘Jammu-Kashmir Liberation Front (Mohammed Yasin Malik faction) as an ‘unlawful association’ for the next five years.” Amit Shah further said, “The banned organization was engaged in activities promoting terrorism and separatism in Jammu and Kashmir. Anyone challenging the security, sovereignty and integrity of the nation will have to face strict legal consequences.” Amit Shah said, as part of Prime Minister Modi’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, the Home Ministry has declared four factions of Jammu and Kashmir People’s League as ‘unlawful associations’. These organizations were involved in inciting terror and promoting separatism in Jammu and Kashmir. The names of these four groups are — JKPL (Mukhtar Ahmed Waza), JKPL (Bashir Ahmed Tota), JKPL (Ghulam Mohammad Khan) and JKPL (Aziz Sheikh), which is led by Yakub Sheikh.
