Caution in Uttarakhand amidst monsoon alert; heavy rain warning issued for three districts

Dehradun: Due to active monsoon in Uttarakhand, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in three districts today. Due to continuous rains in the hilly areas, incidents of landslides and road blockage are coming to light.

Yamunotri Highway has been closed due to rain, due to which passengers are facing problems. However, according to the administration, the pilgrimage to Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham is going on smoothly at present.

Heavy rain alert in three districts

The Meteorological Department has advised to be cautious in sensitive areas of Uttarakhand. In hilly areas during heavy rains—

landslide,
road breakdown,
debris coming,
Increase in water level of rivers and streams

Such problems may arise.

The administration has instructed the concerned departments to remain on alert mode.

Yamunotri Highway closed

Due to rain, traffic has been affected due to debris at many places on Yamunotri National Highway. Due to closure of the road, passengers had to stop.

Teams of concerned departments are working on the spot to open the road. Officials say that traffic will be restored only after the weather becomes normal and security check is done.

Badrinath and Kedarnath Yatra smooth

Despite the Yamunotri route being affected, the pilgrimage to Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham is continuing normally. The administration is constantly monitoring the travel routes and passengers are being appealed to travel keeping the weather in mind.

Devotees coming on Chardham Yatra have been advised to-

Pay attention to the warnings of the Meteorological Department.
Get information about route conditions before travelling.
Be careful in sensitive areas.
Follow the instructions of the administration.
Increased danger in hilly areas

The risk of landslides increases in hilly areas during rains in Uttarakhand. Due to weak hills and continuous rains, debris often falls on the roads, affecting traffic.

According to experts, it is important to take extra caution while traveling in the hills during monsoon.
