Case registered against Telangana school officials over saffron dress controversy
Hyderabad: Mancherial district police have registered a case against a school correspondent and principal for allegedly objecting to some students coming to the institute wearing ‘Hanuman Diksha attire’ in Kannepalli village.
According to Dandepalli police, based on a complaint by the students’ parents, a case was registered under sections 153 (A) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion or race) and 295 (A) (insulting religious feelings). Blessed Mother Teresa High School management told PTI on Wednesday that two days ago, the principal asked the students to bring their parents after noticing that they were wearing saffron attire instead of uniforms.
A group of people later demanded an apology from the school management and some angry protesters allegedly vandalized the school’s windows on Tuesday, according to video footage provided by the school correspondent. The protesters also reportedly demanded an apology from the reporter, he said.
