Campaign will start soon for drug and HIV free Uttarakhand

Dehradun. The National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) has formulated a strategy under the 95-95-95 formula to make India AIDS free. According to the intention of the Central Government, by 2030, India will be completely AIDS free. At present there are more than 24 lakh HIV positive people in the country. In this episode, the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) team of the Government of India Health Department is on a three-day Uttarakhand tour. During this tour, the team visited Ground Zero in Haridwar and Dehradun districts and inspected and evaluated the work being done by the Uttarakhand AIDS Control Society. The team members met the Health Secretary today. Expressing satisfaction over the work being done by the Uttarakhand AIDS Control Society in the state, he discussed how it can be further improved in the future. Along with this, while expressing concern over the increasing trend of drug addiction among the youth in the state, the team talked about running public awareness programs on a large scale. Secretary Health Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar told the team that a comprehensive action plan is ready to run a comprehensive program on drug awareness, in which the state needs the cooperation of the Center. The team of the Central Health Department agreed on this.

The team of National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) discussed the new activities and innovations with the Health Secretary. The role of Uttarakhand AIDS Control Society in Chardham Yatra was discussed in detail. The team apprised the Health Secretary that all aspects like drug abuse and prevention are being coordinated and looked after by the Centre.

The health secretary said that the center should help in getting rid of drug addiction.

Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar apprised the team from the Center about the work being done by the Uttarakhand AIDS Control Society. He said that public awareness programs are being run on a war footing regarding drug and AIDS free Uttarakhand. The results of which are also coming good. A complete action plan has been prepared for awareness against drugs, in which the state needs the cooperation of the Center. The team of the Central Health Department agreed on this.

Complete security center will soon be set up in Coronation Hospital

A complete security center will soon be set up in Dehradun District Hospital Coronation. This center will work under single window system. In this, along with HIV, hepatitis, TB and other serious diseases can also be treated. Till now such facility was not available. Counseling of patients will be done in this center. Along with this, the programs being run under the mental, social and other social security of the patients will be established. NACO has given its approval. The work will start soon after getting the approval of the action plan.

Awareness program will run in all jails of the state

A plan is being prepared to run awareness program in all the jails of the state. Awareness will be created about all the serious diseases including HIV in the districts. Along with this, work will be done regarding screening so that the prisoners who are in the grip of serious diseases can be treated on time.

Regular counseling for drug addicts and AIDS patients

The NACO team that came from the center inspected the OST centers located in Dehradun and Haridwar districts and gave necessary guidelines. The Health Department team inspected the District Jail and the OST Center located in the District Tuberculosis Hospital premises in Haridwar. The team emphasized on making counseling compulsory for drug addicts and patients. Along with this, instructions were also given for regular counseling of AIDS patients. The team said that under the drug-free India campaign, the central government has taken meaningful steps to reduce the demand for drugs.

During the meeting with the Health Secretary, Director General Health Uttarakhand Vinita Shah, Deputy Director Health Government of India Dr. Bhavani Singh, National Advisor of Health Department Parul, Kartik, Deputy Director of State AIDS Control Committee Sanjay Bisht, Sunil Singh in the team of Health Department from the Center. Apart from this, DTO RK Singh, Team Leader Setu Harmendra Singh, Uttarakhand Incharge of Setu Saurabh Gupta, Additional Project Director Dr. Ajay Nagarkar and Sanjay Singh of DDTI were present.
