Bus falls off bridge in Sundargarh, three critical, over 30 injured
Odisha: Three passengers were seriously injured and over 30 others were injured when a passenger bus fell off a bridge near Singhijuba in Binika,
Sundargarh, on Tuesday morning. It is reported that the accident occurred when the bus lost balance and plunged off the bridge. All the injured were initially admitted to the Binika Community Health Center. The bus was traveling from Bhubaneswar to Diptipur in Bargarh via Binika when it met with the accident in Singhijuba. Reports indicate that around 50 passengers were on board at the time of the accident.
Reports indicate that 20 of the injured passengers were injured. Those with serious injuries were later shifted to VIMSAR, Burla. At the time of writing, several passengers remained at the accident site, and rescue operations were underway. It is reported that Sonpur Superintendent of Police Narayan Nayak, police, and local officials arrived at the scene immediately after the accident and carried out the rescue operation. They ensured immediate medical attention and hospital transfer for the injured passengers.
Rescue and medical treatment are underway. A medical worker at the scene said, “About five people were seriously injured, three of whom were taken to the hospital for medical attention. Those with minor injuries are being treated here.”
