Bus-auto collision, 7 killed, 4 injured, chaos ensued

New Delhi: An RTC bus and an auto carrying farm labourers collided near Thalagasapalle in Garldine mandal of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, killing seven people while four others were seriously injured.

According to the police, 12 farm labourers from Nellutla village of Kuttaluru mandal had gone to work in Garldine in an auto. While returning, an RTC bus coming from the opposite direction hit their vehicle. Two of the deceased died on the spot. The other two died while being taken to the hospital, while the other three died during treatment in the hospital. The injured are being treated at Anantapur Government Hospital.

On receiving the information, District SP Jagadeesh and DSP Venkateshwarulu inspected the spot. The police have taken the RTC bus driver into custody for further investigation. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep grief over this tragic road accident in Thalagaspalle. Expressing his condolences to the families of those killed in this accident, he said that the state government is with the affected families.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister has also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Chandrababu Naidu asked the officials to ensure that the injured get medical assistance as soon as possible and there is no shortage in relief work. He has also directed to conduct a thorough investigation of the accident, so that such incidents can be prevented in future.

The police have started investigating the matter, so that the causes of the accident can be found out and action can be taken against the person responsible. At the same time, the RTC bus driver has been taken into custody.
