Brother kills sister on Rakhi Purnima in Odisha

Berhampur: In a shocking incident, a cousin brother reportedly killed his minor sister on Rakhi Purnima at Jagannath Vihar area under the Bada Bazar police station limits of Odisha’s Berhampur city today.

One Ashutosh, the accused, who is said to be a distance relative, reportedly attacked the 13-year-deceased girl named Prajakta Panigrahi and her minor bother Ayushman with a sword, causing her death on the spot.

While the exact reason behind Ashutosh attacking the minor siblings is yet to be ascertained, the accused absconded after committing the crime.

Soon, the family members with the help of the locals rushed Ayushman to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment, said sources adding that his condition is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, the Bada Bazar police has started an investigation into the crime. They have started search operation at different areas of the city to trace Ashutosh.
