Bookie arrested with betting slips worth lakhs

Saranggarh. On Tuesday, September 24, information was received from an informer that a person named Sameer Khunte is running online betting through mobile near village Bhandora Jaitkham Chowk. On receiving the information, the staff reached near Jaitkham Chowk and cordoned off the area and conducted a raid.

During the raid, a person was found on the spot who was taking money from people and was playing betting through mobile by sending betting slips with numbers on his WhatsApp. On questioning, he told his name as Sameer Kumar Khunte and accepted to play online betting through social media WhatsApp and Instagram with betting numbers. An old used mobile worth Rs. 6000 and cash worth Rs. 1000, total Rs. 7000 were seized from the possession of the accused on the spot by witnesses in front of the seizure sheet and a case was registered against the accused under section 6,7 of the Chhagjua Prohibition Act. After registering the crime under 2022, the accused was arrested and sent to jail after taking judicial remand.
