Bookie arrested for online betting in IPL
Kawardha. Kawardha Police of Chhattisgarh has arrested two bookies for betting in online IPL matches. The accused were betting on Mumbai vs Chennai Super King. Police have seized mobile, cash and money transaction slips from their possession. According to the information, on April 14, Pandariya Police received information from an informer that a person was betting online in front of his house near Barasin Chowk Hanuman Temple Pandariya on the ongoing match between Mumbai Indian vs Chennai Super Kings. SP Abhishek Pallav took the complaint seriously.
Police station in-charge Pandariya was given instructions for immediate raid. On the basis of informer information, raid action was taken after reaching Barasin Chowk Hanuman Temple, Pandariya. In the raid action, accused Suraj Soni, father Shravan Kumar, 38 year old resident of Barasin Chowk Pandariya was caught. From whose possession a mobile hand set of Vivo company worth around Rs 12000 was found, in which evidence of online IPL cricket betting was found. Cash and two pieces of paper containing transaction slips with a total value of Rs 14100/- were recovered from the possession of the accused. Section 6,7 ChG against the accused. The offense was registered under the Gambling Act 2022. The accused has been arrested and proper action is being taken from Pandariya police station.
