Bloody conflict in the ashram, injured old man died during treatment

Korba. An old man died in a fight between two mentally ill people in an ashram in Manikpur police station area. The injured old man was treated in private and government hospitals, but his life could not be saved. The police have started investigating the case by registering a case.

An ashram operating in Manikpur area provides shelter to mentally weak and old people. About six months ago Vidyasagar (60 years) and Someshwar (30 years) were brought there due to their weak mental condition. On the night of 19 December, both of them had a fight over something. During the dispute, Someshwar beat up Vidyasagar badly, due to which Vidyasagar was seriously injured. The injured Vidyasagar was first admitted to a private hospital, from where he was referred to Medical College Hospital when his condition became serious. Despite treatment, he died at around 8 pm on 27 December. The police have completed the legal action on the basis of the hospital memo.

It is being told that he was also being treated by mental health experts in the ashram. The investigation also revealed that the accused Someshwar was earlier caught in a murder case in Durg district. When his mental condition deteriorated, he was admitted to Sendri Hospital, where he was discharged after three months of treatment. The police had initially registered a case under the section of assault. Now after the death of the old man, additional sections can be added when the investigation is completed.
