BJP MLA: Demanded temporary detention center for Bangladeshi infiltrators in suburbs
Maharashtra: BJP MLA Amit Satam has demanded that special water courts be set up in major cities to send back Bangladeshi infiltrators illegally settled in Mumbai and for time-bound trial, as well as temporary detention centres for them in the suburbs.
The accused who attacked actor Saif Ali Khan has been identified as a Bangladeshi infiltrator, bringing the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators back into the limelight. In this regard, Andheri West Assembly Constituency MLA Amit Satam has sent a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Satam in the letter has expressed concern about Bangladeshi nationals illegally settling in Mumbai after crossing the Indian border. It has been observed that these infiltrators are involved in many crimes. He also said in the letter that the recent attack on Saif Ali Khan is a prime example of this. Satam has suggested some measures, which when implemented will reduce the threat of Bangladeshi infiltrators and increase the security and stability of Mumbai and Maharashtra.
1) Temporary detention centres should be set up in the suburbs for infiltrating Bangladeshi nationals.
2) Special fast-track courts should be set up in major cities for time-bound trials and infiltrators should be deported immediately after the verdict.
3) The Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1950 and the Foreigners Act, 1946 should be amended to provide for stringent punishment and fines for infiltrators.
