BJP leaders want caste census before local elections
Hyderabad: BJP leader Dr Boora Narsaiah Goud demanded that the Revanth Reddy government conduct caste census before holding local body elections and provide 42 per cent reservation to backward class communities, as promised by the Congress before the assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office in Nampally, Dr Gaur said the Congress had announced in its BC manifesto in Kamareddy that it would increase the quota for BCs in local body elections from 22 per cent to 42 per cent. ,
They also demanded that the government give legal status to the BC sub-plan and allocate `20,000 crore for BC each year for the next five years as promised. If the Chief Minister tries to renege on the promise, the BJP and hundreds of BC associations will not hesitate to take out ‘Million March Protest’.
Dr Gaur demanded that the government allocate 42 per cent of civil contract maintenance works in government departments to members of the BC community, which he said was one of the key promises in the BC declaration of the Congress.
He said the BJP government had given legal status to the National Commission for BCs, given key portfolios to 27 BC members in the Union Council of Ministers and provided reservation in national competitive exams like NEET and Sainik School entrance.
“Congress always maintained an anti-BC stance in its DNA. The first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had opposed the country’s first Backward Classes Commission, the Kaka Kalekar Commission. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had also opposed the Mandal Commission set up to identify socially or educationally backward classes to consider the question of seat reservation and quota for redressal of caste discrimination,” he said.
Dr. Gaur said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has done a great injustice to the country by providing reservation to 41 out of 42 sub-categories of Muslims coming from Bangladesh through a gazette in 2010, which is based on Mohammed Ghazni and Invaders like Mohammad Ghori did not. And through another gazette in 2012, 77 sub-categories of Muslim infiltrators from Bangladesh, including the Rohingya, were included. He said that these Muslim sections have taken away 77 per cent of the OBC reservation in West Bengal and helped them enter the military and paramilitary forces.
Urging President Draupadi Murmu to remove Mamata Banerjee from the post of Chief Minister because she had openly spoken of going against the Calcutta High Order which had canceled Muslim reservation, Dr Gaur said that the Mamata government has now Till now 5 lakh OBC certificates have been given to Muslim infiltrators. He said, “Mumait Khan’s action inspired poor Hindus to become Muslims for the sake of reservation.”
