BJP is leaking votes even in Kerala, CPM should be ready to listen to people: CPM politburo member MA Baby

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM politburo member MA Baby said it is worrisome that BJP is leaking votes from other parties even in Kerala. “BJP’s vote share has doubled compared to 2014. Effective action plans are needed to reverse this trend,” Baby said in a magazine article.

The CPM district committees had earlier severely criticized the setback in the Lok Sabha elections. The criticism was against the administration and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Senior leader MA Baby came forward suggesting corrections following this. His article states that this predicament cannot be resolved without patiently accepting corrections. It is not just the electoral backlash that needs to be examined. Party leakage also occurs due to mass influence. Although corrections are being made, there are still levels to be corrected. The Left can regain mass influence only through honest, fearless and open self-criticism, so that the people are aware of it.Listening patiently to what people have to say is just as important as talking to them. It should be attempted to maintain contact with all sections of people. It is also important to make necessary corrections in one’s own words, actions and life based on proper criticism of what people say, said Baby.
