BJP is conducting political conferences in the name of spirituality: P. Shanmugam’s allegation

Tamil Nadu : CPI(M) state secretary P. Shanmugam has alleged that the BJP is planning to hold a political conference with lakhs of people under the guise of a spiritual conference. The CPI(M) on Wednesday launched a public meeting campaign across Tamil Nadu in the Chennai Port area. The campaign was launched by the party’s state secretary P. Shanmugam. Various groups of this campaign, which will run till June 20, will campaign among the public with demands to be placed before the central and state governments. Later, P. Shanmugam spoke to reporters: Although the Hindu Front has announced that it will hold a conference of Muruga devotees in Madurai on June 22, everyone from Home Minister Amit Shah to local BJP leaders are campaigning for it. The BJP is going to hold a political conference by mobilizing lakhs of people under the guise of a spiritual conference. This raises suspicion that they are using the conference to cause major riots by claiming that law and order is not good in Tamil Nadu. Therefore, the Tamil Nadu government should ensure that the conference is held without any untoward incident. Strict legal action should be taken against anyone who comes with the intention of causing riots. It would not be right to assess the party’s vote share based only on the victory and votes received in the 2021 elections. However, he said that we will face the 2026 elections to defeat the AIADMK alliance on behalf of the DMK-led Secular Democratic Progressive Alliance. State Executive Committee member S. Kannan, Central Chennai District Secretary G. Selva, State Committee member M. Sivakumar and many others attended the event.
