Bilga-Ludhiana pipeline: Continuous water supply possible soon

Punjab: To address water shortages and erratic supply in the district, preparations are underway to soon begin 24×7 canal water supply under the Bilga-Ludhiana Pipeline Project. This project is expected to benefit both the city’s citizens and the agricultural sector. Officials from the renowned Water Supply Department stated that the pipeline construction is nearly complete, and only testing and initial operations remain. Under the project, modern pumping stations and a distribution network have been installed to ensure uninterrupted water availability in Ludhiana district.
Officials stated that the new pipeline will not only meet the city’s daily water needs but will also ensure stable and reliable canal water supply to the surrounding rural areas. This will ensure farmers receive timely water, ensuring their crops and agricultural productivity are not affected. The Water Supply Department stated that 24×7 water supply will also reduce water wastage. The continuous flow of water will help maintain the correct amount of water in tanks and canals, thereby addressing water shortages throughout the city. The citizens of Ludhiana city have expressed enthusiasm for the project. Local resident Ranjan Kumar said, “Regular water supply will be a great relief for us. Previously, water cuts and pipeline failures caused a lot of trouble. Now, 24×7 supply will make our lives easier.”
Project officials also stated that special attention will be paid to necessary maintenance and safety measures during the pipeline’s operation. Regular inspection and monitoring systems have been established to ensure the pipeline’s quality and safety. Experts believe that such 24×7 canal water supply schemes can serve as an example for other districts and cities. This will not only solve the water crisis but also ensure stability and development in agriculture and civic life. The operation of the Bilga-Ludhiana pipeline project is expected to completely resolve the long-standing water supply issues in the district. The department has appealed to citizens to use the pipeline properly and responsibly and to immediately report any malfunctions or leakages to the authorities.
