A video has surfaced involving Ashish Verma, former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and it has been shared by the BJP on its official social media platform, “X.” In the 21-second video, the BJP alleges that during Bhupesh Baghel’s tenure, rules were bypassed and pressure was exerted on officials.

The BJP captioned it, “The ongoing hooliganism in Patan by Ashish Verma, Bhupesh’s OSD, is shameful. Bhupesh ji, control your henchmen who are threatening officials by saying, ‘You too have a family.'” This controversy arose over the allotment of shops in the Patan Nagar Panchayat.

The Congress alleges that the BJP government is distributing shops to its close associates. Meanwhile, the Congress called the viral video “incomplete and misleading” and accused it of tarnishing their image. In the video released by the BJP, Ashish Verma is seen saying in a meeting, “You people have a career, a future. I’m still saying, conform to the rules, we’ll withdraw the petition.
