Bhubaneswar Parida inaugurated the crèche at Kharvel Bhavan

Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated a crèche facility called KALIKA at Kharvel Bhavan on Monday. The facility is designed to provide safe and caring daycare support to working mothers and staff members’ children.

This initiative aims to strengthen work-life balance in government offices and is a step forward in creating an inclusive and compassionate workplace support system. With colorful activity areas, trained caregivers, and a positive environment for children focused on learning, play, and well-being, KALIKA aims to help children flourish while also enabling parents, especially mothers, to focus on their work without stress.

Speaking on the occasion, DC-cum-ACS Anu Garg said, “KALIKA is an important step towards creating a workplace where motherhood and professional responsibilities coexist.

When employees feel supported, both productivity and respect increase.”

Usha Padhi, Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department, said, “A child-friendly space like KALIKA sends a clear message that care is an essential part of our work culture.

This facility will make the lives of working mothers easier and help create an environment where children can grow up with love, learning, and security.”

Senior officials and staff from the Housing and Urban Development Department also participated in the opening event, demonstrating a shared commitment to improving employee welfare and child-centered facilities.

Administrative officers and crèche caretakers were also present.

KALIKA is a milestone in Odisha’s vision of a modern workplace that is productive, compassionate, and fosters a better future for every child.
