Betting was being played at different places, police raided

Dhamtari. Kurud police has taken action against two bookies. While patrolling in the chest, information was received from the informer that a person was taking money from the people at a common place in the village chest and playing gambling called ‘Satta Patti’ by betting on winning and losing in front of the numbers. On receiving the information, Hamrah staff immediately reached the place mentioned by the informer. When the raid was conducted, Jitendra Markande, father of Ghana Ram, 28 years old, who wrote the Satta Patti, was caught in Sakin village chest, police station Kurud district Dhamtari and the person who wrote the Satta Patti ran away after seeing the police.

On searching the accused Jitendra Markande, a piece of paper was found written against the numbers of Satta Patti, one piece of old scolding pen, cash amount of Rs 2560/- and a mobile phone. On finding the accused, no valid document was produced in relation to writing Satta Patti. After seizing the evidence, the crime was registered at Kurud police station under Section 6(a) of the Chhattisgarh Gambling Act.

Ramkumar Sahu father Late. Phool Singh, age 53 years, was caught by Sakin village chest police station Kurud district Dhamtari near village chest Bhagat Chowk pond while playing gambling called satta with mobile phone and pen and paper. Rs 540/- cash, pen and betting strip, a mobile phone were seized from the accused. The crime was registered at Kurud police station under Section 6(a) of the Chhattisgarh Gambling Act. And the accused Jitendra Markande and Ramkumar Sahu have been duly arrested and sent on judicial remand.
