Became friend in the park, then had physical relationship for 6 years, now the lover who refused to marry has been arrested

Raigarh. Chakradharnagar police today arrested Manoj Sahu (24 years), accused of raping a woman by luring her with marriage, from Pamgarh, district Janjgir-Champa and sent him to jail on judicial remand. The woman had lodged a complaint against the accused at Chakradharnagar police station on January 22.

The victim, a resident of Tehsil Dharamjaigarh, told in her complaint that she had been working in a rented house in Raigarh for the last six years. In October 2023, she met Manoj Sahu in a park in Chakradharnagar. Manoj increased his friendship and started talking after taking the phone number. After this, a love affair developed between the two. In November 2023, Manoj took a rented house in Chakradharnagar, where he started living with the victim. Manoj proposed marriage and had physical relations. After some time, the victim took another rented house, where Manoj often came to meet. When the woman asked to apply for marriage in the court in November 2024, Manoj refused to marry and abused her. The victim talked to Manoj’s parents, but they also drove him away. On the girl’s complaint, Chakradharnagar police station in-charge Prashant Rao registered a case under crime number 40/2025. A woman police officer took the victim’s statement and got her medical examination done. The police deployed informers to catch the accused. On receiving information today at dawn, the accused was taken into custody from Chandipara in Pamgarh and brought to Raigarh. After presenting him in the court, he was sent to jail.

Inspector Prashant Rao, Assistant Sub Inspector Nand Kumar Sarathi, Head Constable Mahendra Karsh and Samund Rankar played an important role in the investigation and arrest of the accused. The police took swift action in this case and ensured justice by bringing the accused to the clutches of law.
