Be prepared to deal with disaster: Government orders District Magistrates

Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu government has ordered the governors of 7 districts including Coimbatore and Tirunelveli to prepare for the effects of disasters.

The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy to very heavy rains will occur in the southern and western districts of Tamil Nadu till June 16. In this situation, Commissioner of Revenue Administration and State Disaster Management Commissioner CG Thomas Vaidyan has sent a letter to the District Collectors of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari to deal with the damage caused by rain:

The Meteorological Department has announced that heavy rains are likely till June 16. Therefore, the administrators of the respective districts should follow the standard guidelines for dealing with disasters. The entire government machinery in the district should be kept ready.

CG Thomas Vaidyan has said that necessary precautions should be taken to deal with the effects of heavy to very heavy rains. If any untoward incident occurs due to heavy rains, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department should be informed immediately.
