BASAR: Emphasis on expediting SIR works, Leprada DEO holds progress meeting

BASAR : Leparada District Election Officer (DEO) Himani Meena on Thursday reviewed the progress of the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the district, with particular emphasis on the distribution, collection and digitisation of enumeration forms (EFs).
Chairing a review meeting with booth level officers (BLOs) whose digitisation pendency of EFs remained above 30 per cent, and officials of the election branch, the DEO interacted with the BLOs concerned to understand the reasons behind the pendency in their respective polling stations.
During the meeting, the BLOs apprised the DEO of the various field-level challenges affecting the timely completion of the exercise.
While acknowledging the genuine difficulties faced by the field functionaries, Meena said that “obstacles are bound to occur in the execution of such large-scale administrative processes and must be overcome systematically.”
She directed all the BLOs to ensure that appropriate remarks are recorded in every case where EFs could not be collected due to unavoidable reasons such as death, migration or untraceable electors.
She further emphasised that proper documentation is essential to maintain the accuracy and transparency of the revision process.
Reiterating the importance of adhering to the schedule prescribed by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the DEO directed that the digitisation of EFs be completed well before the stipulated deadline.
She also instructed all the BLOs to intensify house-to-house visits and voter awareness efforts to ensure that every eligible elector is reached and no voter is left out of the SIR.
As an outcome of the meeting, all the BLOs were directed to submit daily progress reports on the distribution, collection, and digitisation of enumeration forms with effect from 10 July. They were also instructed to furnish reasons for any genuine pendency and seek additional manpower wherever required until the process is fully completed.
The BLOs were further directed to intensify house-to-house visits and complete the digitisation of all enumeration forms by 13 July.
