Banker’s murder: Case filed against six doctors and two others

Punjab: A day after the body of a bank manager was recovered from the Sirhind feeder canal near Bhullar village, Muktsar Sadar police on Saturday registered a murder case against eight persons, including six doctors. Simrandeep Singh (40), a resident of Guru Angad Dev Nagar, was posted as a manager in a bank near Lakhewali. He had gone out with his friends on Wednesday night but did not return. On Friday, some divers and a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) recovered his body from the canal. His wife Amandeep Kaur lodged a complaint with the police alleging that her husband was murdered. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case against six doctors – Sandeep Sandhu, Gurraj Singh, Amarinder Sandhu, Opinder Singh, Gurpreet Brar and Maheshinder Singh – and two others – Kaku Sandhu and Rinku Bawa. All of them are residents of Muktsar town. SSP Tushar Gupta confirmed that a case has been registered under sections 103(2) and 190 of the BNS. However, the accused have not been arrested yet.
