Ban on publishing poll results from April 9 to April 29: Election Commission

Tamil Nadu: Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in five states, including Kerala, this month. The Election Commission has advised that there will be a ban on conducting or publishing exit polls from 7 am on April 9th ββto 6:30 pm on April 29th.
The Election Commission has also warned that “conducting or broadcasting polls during this period is a crime under Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, punishable with imprisonment of up to two years, or a fine, or both.”
Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Kerala, Assam, and the Union Territory of Puducherry on the 9th. Voting in Tamil Nadu is scheduled for the 23rd. Voting in West Bengal is scheduled for two phases on the 23rd and 29th.
Parties should complete their election campaigns in the constituencies or states where elections are being held 48 hours before the end of voting. Accordingly, campaigning by political parties ended at 5 pm on Tuesday in Assam and at 6 pm in Kerala and Puducherry.
In this situation, the Election Commission has issued instructions to stop the publication of election results.
