Balasore train mishap: 101 bodies yet to be identified

Bhubaneswar: There are still 101 bodies yet to be identified those who died in the horrific train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district.

Speaking to the media, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner, Vijay Amrit Kulange said, “Of the total 193 bodies kept in Bhubaneswar, 80 bodies have been identified. 55 bodies have been handed over to the relatives. More than 200 calls have been received on BMC’s helpline number 1929. The dead bodies are being identified and handed over to the relatives.”

On the other hand, the Divisional Railway Manager of the Eastern Central Railways Rinkesh Roy revealed that there must be a hidden conspiracy behind the accident.

The train accident occurred due to a change in electronic interlocking. After interrogating the loco pilot and assistant loco pilot, it was revealed that they received a green signal. The railways have also demanded a CBI probe into the matter and said that strict action will be taken against whoever is involved in causing this mishap.

It is to be noted here that the biggest train accident of the century which took place at Bahanaga railway station in Balasore district of Odisha on Friday claimed over 275 lives while over 1175 were injured in the mishap.
