Balasore: Bear electrocuted after getting stuck in transformer while seeking honey from tree

Nilagiri: A bear was found dead of electrocution in Balasore district of Odisha on Monday. It was found entangled to an electric transformer in the Tailasahi village in Mitrapur Bit under Nilagiri Forest Division.

It has been said that the bear might have died due to its greed for honey. It died after getting stuck in a transformer while seeking honey from a tree above the transformer.

Late at night, the bear came from the Swarnachuda hill in search of food and entered the Teila Sahi village.

While climbing a nearby banyan tree to eat honey, it probably fell and entangled in the 33 KV electricity transformer.

After receiving information from the locals in the morning, the electricity department removed the bear from the transformer and handed it over to the forest department. Meanwhile, the forest department has started an investigation into the incident.
