Bakrid festival: Muslims offered special prayers

Tamil Nadu : Muslims at various places in Tamil Nadu offered special prayers on the occasion of Bakrid this morning. Bakrid, Eid-ul-Azha, is celebrated on Saturday. Bakrid falls on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. Bakrid is the most important festival celebrated by Muslims after Ramzan. It is also called the Festival of Sacrifice and the Festival of Pilgrimage. On the occasion of Bakrid, arrangements were made for Muslims to offer special prayers at various places. Special prayers were offered in a very peaceful manner at those places. Muslim people are celebrating the festival of Bakrid with great enthusiasm. After offering special prayers, they donate the meat of goat, cow etc. to the poor as sacrifice.
