Babri anniversary: Police are maintaining strict surveillance in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu police tightened security across the state on December 6, 2025, the 33rd anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition. Vigilance was heightened due to the impact of the recent car bomb blast in Delhi.
Over 100,000 personnel, including 15,000 in Chennai, conducted intensive checks at bus/railway stations, places of worship, commercial complexes, and crowded areas to prevent any untoward incidents.
Passengers’ luggage was thoroughly checked at Egmore and Chennai Central stations, while vehicle checks were conducted throughout Chennai all night. Police raided private lodges to check for suspicious individuals and deployed sniffer dogs and metal detectors at key locations such as Villupuram stations.
Due to the nationwide alert, Tamil Nadu proactively deployed forces, focusing on public safety.
The 1992 Ayodhya demolition led to riots that killed over 2,000 people, making December 6 a sensitive date as retaliatory violence has occurred previously in Pakistan/Bangladesh. Amidst current threats, Tamil Nadu’s measures ensured communal harmony, and flag marches in sensitive districts like Madurai resonated across the country. No incidents have been reported so far.
