Ayodhya: Bihar man arrested for threatening to blow up Ram temple with bomb

Araria: A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Bihar’s Araria district for calling the police and threatening to blow up the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, a senior official said on Sunday.

Araria Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Singh said that the caller Intekhab Alam was arrested from his house in Balua Kaliaganj of Palasi police station area late on Saturday night.

“The person had dialed 112, the number on which citizens can seek emergency help, on January 19,” Singh told PTI. He claimed that his name is Chhota Shakeel and he is a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim.”

The SP said, “Alam said on the phone that he will blow up the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. He has no criminal record, but he appears to be mentally unstable.”

Singh said, “In view of the sensitivity of the matter, a case has been registered at Palasi police station. His mobile phone has also been confiscated by the police.”

The police officer said details were shared with the cyber cell as soon as the call was received. The mobile number from which he had called was found to be registered in his father’s name.

The consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya is going to be held on 22 January.
